Our research underpins how we work, because the sectors we support depend on evidence about technical performance, stakeholder trust, land use, procedural justice, governance and long-term impact.
Research keeps Climaticus responsive to change. It supports a working culture that tests assumptions, updates methods and stays alert to shifting evidence across policy, science and stakeholder expectations.
Biomethane, anaerobic digestion and related transition projects depend on more than engineering capability. They also require trust, legitimacy, consent and environmental credibility. Our research-informed approach means that we consider multiple perspectives when undertaking a new project. Through our research, we test claims, refine methods and understand what changes across sites, seasons and policy contexts.
Two research programmes inform our practice. The first examines the discursive landscape around energy infrastructure, with a focus on how place-based and local stakeholders understand, contest and negotiate projects, how language shapes legitimacy and consent, and how markets, value chains and market-shaping processes are represented and contested. It informs Civitas by Climaticus.
The second examines anaerobic digestion, biochar and regenerative agriculture. It looks at feedstock systems, soil outcomes and carbon sequestration over time, and it supports decisions about environmental performance and land use.
Together, they keep our work grounded in current evidence and responsive to the conditions of each project. They also contribute to a growing research body.

We remain open to new ideas and collaborative lines of enquiry where they connect to our wider research focus. This includes emerging questions from practice, policy, community engagement and sector development.

Research Partnerships
We welcome research partnerships with academics, practitioners and organisations working on shared questions. This includes collaboration on applied projects, co-authored outputs, stakeholder engagement and knowledge exchange.
