Climaticus brings together expertise across decarbonisation strategy, engineering, stakeholder engagement, sustainability, finance and digital systems.
The Climaticus Team is motivated by two inseparable objectives: the need to decouple Irish energy and agriculture from fossil fuels, and the need to ensure a just transition to a carbon-neutral Ireland, so that the communities, farmers and rural economies at the centre of it share in what it produces. We are partner led: the farmers, developers, communities, biomethane offtakers and investors we work with shape strategy, contribute to delivery and share in what it produces.
Climaticus is a small, fast-moving team with an unusually wide range of disciplines: project engineering, carbon accounting, stakeholder engagement, community research, agricultural systems and data infrastructure. Where a specialist sees a carbon project, we see a feedstock opportunity, a community partnership, a planning risk, a data asset and a market connection at the same time. The team is empirically grounded, research-oriented and built on long-lasting partnerships with the farmers, communities and developers it works with.
Climaticus is a research-active organisation. Dr Katherine Casey and Dr Maurice Deasy each maintain independent research programmes in this space: in the social and discursive dimensions of energy transition and community engagement, and in its technical, agricultural and land-use dimensions respectively. That breadth of active inquiry keeps the organisation's practice empirically grounded and continuously developing.
Founder & Chairman
Energy consultant with over 30 years' experience designing decarbonisation strategies across infrastructure, food and industrial sectors. Chartered management accountant. Architect of the community-driven climate finance model underpinning Climaticus.
Product Development
Engineer and climate strategist specialising in anaerobic digestion, biochar and regenerative agriculture. Leads Climaticus' technical development and infrastructure strategy across energy and land use.
Strategic Communications & Ethics
Academic and strategist specialising in discourse analysis, post-growth economics and critical marketing. Designed and developed Civitas by Climaticus, which she leads. Her research into how communities construct and contest meaning around energy infrastructure is the methodological foundation of the programme. Leads Climaticus' strategic positioning and values-driven communications.
Commercial & Digital Systems
Renewable energy consultant with command of both financial modelling and software development. Authored Climaticus' digital MRV tools and leads financial modelling, carbon infrastructure planning and software integration into voluntary carbon markets. His range across technical build and financial analysis is uncommon, and underpins the design and delivery of the Custos Platform.
