Advice That Holds the Whole System Together.

Coordinated, research-led consultancy for biomethane and carbon projects – engineering, agriculture, finance, community and market held around a single table.

A biomethane or carbon project has to work as engineering, as agriculture, as finance, as community and as market all at once, and it is the joins between those disciplines, rather than any one of them in isolation, where circular bioeconomy projects most often come apart. Consultancy with Climaticus is built to hold those joins. Every discipline a project touches sits inside the one team and around the one table, so a recommendation we make on feedstock already carries the digestate return for the farmer, the traceability the market will require and the community position it will meet in planning, and the advice reaches you whole rather than in pieces that someone else has to reconcile afterwards.

That coordination is what a consultancy engagement gives you, and it is the reason the advice holds together as a project moves from idea to delivery.

Bespoke Answers to Unique Questions

Every project we take on brings its own feedstock catchment, its own community history, its own planning context and its own market position, and we treat each as a distinct question that deserves an answer reasoned from first principles. Our starting point is always research: we go to the ground of the specific situation, gather the evidence it presents and let that evidence shape the recommendation, so what you receive is built around your project and your circumstances. Because two of our team maintain live research programmes in the social and technical dimensions of energy transition, that inquiry stays continuous and current, and the approach we bring to a project keeps moving as the evidence and the conditions move. The result is advice that is genuinely bespoke, reasoned from your situation and tested against the best evidence available, and it develops with the project as understanding deepens. It also means our answers are frequently unconventional, arrived at by following the evidence to the solution that will still be standing years from now.

What We Advise On

Our advisory work spans the full chain that a biomethane or carbon project has to close. We are engaged at three points most often: early, to test whether a project is viable across engineering, community and market conditions together; through development, to design the feedstock, verification and engagement that hold a project up; and at difficulty, when a stalled or contested project needs a route back to consent and finance.

Every engagement draws on the whole team, lending a diversity of experience and perspective that renders a complete solution.

Decarbonisation Strategy

For infrastructure, food and industrial clients setting a credible path off fossil fuels. We size the opportunity, sequence the moves and structure the finance so the strategy survives contact with a board and a balance sheet. Grounded in thirty-five years of decarbonisation practice across sectors, and in a preference for unconventional routes that reach solutions built to last.

Project Development and Feasibility

Anaerobic digestion and biomethane projects assessed and developed from first principles: technical design, feedstock availability, planning runway and infrastructure strategy. We tell you early whether a project stands up, and where it does, we build the technical case that carries it to delivery.

Feedstock and Land-Use Systems

Supply chains and cooperative feedstock hubs designed so farmers earn a fair return, soils benefit from digestate, and the digester runs on a supply it can trust. Agricultural and land-use strategy built to hold across seasons and across every party in the chain.

Carbon Accounting, MRV and Market Integration

Measurement, reporting and verification built to the standard investors, regulators and buyers require, with the financial modelling that connects a physical supply chain to carbon and energy markets. This is the analytical spine of the Custos Platform, offered as advisory to clients who need their carbon claims to hold up under scrutiny.

Community Engagement and Social Licence

Structured stakeholder engagement grounded in procedural justice, delivered through Civitas by Climaticus. We open public dialogue, document a genuine record of responsive consultation, and work with communities to secure ongoing social licence that makes it plannable and resilient. Where a project has already run into opposition, we advise on the route back to legitimacy.

Investment And Project Matching

Climaticus matches capital with anaerobic digestion projects and developers, with the communities set to host or co-own them. For Large Energy Users under pressure to decarbonise, we work the other side of the market, connecting gas-dependent operations to projects that can meet their demand with verified supply.

Who Delivers It

The consultancy is delivered by the full Climaticus team, whose backgrounds are set out on our About page. In advisory terms, Conor Casey leads on decarbonisation strategy and finance, Dr Maurice Deasy on project development and feedstock systems, Michael Casey on measurement, verification and market integration, and Dr Katherine Casey on engagement, social licence and research. On any given engagement they combine as the work requires, with one of them holding overall coordination.

At Climaticus, we begin with questions - building a rich understanding of the issue and its context before deciding what needs to be done.

How an Engagement Works

We begin by understanding your project across every dimension that will decide it, then we assemble the members of the team the work actually needs. A feasibility engagement might draw first on engineering and feedstock, then on finance and market integration as the project firms up. A contested planning situation might lead with Civitas and research. The composition follows the problem, and the coordination stays with us.

The result is advice that already accounts for what the next discipline would have said, so decisions hold up as a project moves from idea to delivery.

Talk To The Climaticus Consultancy Team
